A condition characterised by insufficient saliva production. Dry mouth is caused by many medications, radiation therapy, Sjögren's syndrome, and other medical conditions. Without adequate saliva, the risk of tooth decay and gum disease increases significantly because saliva neutralises acids and washes away food particles.
