A naturally occurring mineral that strengthens tooth enamel and inhibits the bacteria that cause cavities. Fluoride is applied professionally in the dental office (varnish or gel) and is found in fluoridated water, toothpaste, and mouth rinses. It can reverse early (pre-cavity) tooth decay.
