The hard tissue layer beneath tooth enamel, making up the bulk of the tooth structure. Dentin is softer than enamel, yellowish in colour, and contains tiny tubules connected to the nerve. Exposed dentin — from enamel erosion or recession — causes tooth sensitivity.
